How it works
Calm, practical tutoring for English Language and English Literature for students with Special Educational Needs. Tutors choose the methods that fit each student. We interview every tutor and only work with people who are passionate about SEN tutoring, safeguarding-trained, Enhanced DBS-checked and insured. Sessions run online or in person across England and Wales.

How we help
Every student has a mix of strengths and challenges, so we don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. We hire experienced tutors and give them room to teach in their style. All tutors are carefully interviewed before joining Sunbeam and share our commitment to compassionate, engaging teaching. Each has up-to-date safeguarding training, insurance and an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Our method
Focused 50-minute sessions with varied tasks, short breaks, and plenty of encouragement. Tutors are experts in their field and teach in their own style. We link strategies back to classwork so progress and confidence translates to school.
Assistive technology
When helpful, we introduce practical tools and show students how to use them independently at school and at home. This can include audiobooks of set texts, text-to-speech and dictation programmes, screen readers, distraction-blocking apps, flashcard apps and simple note-taking systems.

Yes. We follow AQA, Edexcel, OCR and other common UK specifications, using past papers, and mark-schemes. We work to support the student’s access arrangements where applicable.
Yes. Tutors change their approach for each student, supporting reading of set texts, vocabulary and subject terminology, planning and structuring extended writing, and developing confidence with essay practice, poetry analysis, and exam preparation.
